The Mistake

Mistakes are a proof that I am still trying,
Let's leave behind the truth and the lying.
My heart is pure and has always been,
Even after all the shambles I have seen.
7 billion people yet I stand next to you,
Colossal love, but only for a few.
Remember the time your words sting me,
Your actions hurt, chose her over me.
Still I was smiling, still leaning on you,
Even though my tears were thicker than the dew.
Chance after chance, you asked for more,
And I gave it all, with my wounds still sore.
One day my soul stopped and took a breath,
Said to me, run away from this wreath.
I scampered away, fast and scared,
Didn't realize, with you I was snared.
Now here I am, the same little bird,
With nothing else in hands, other than some words.
It's the pain you give that I need the most,
Like an indigent passenger feeding off the host.
Give me a chance, to prove I'm the one,
All the battles of life, with me you have won.
Let's go back to the times so pristine,
The time that was ours, with the slates all clean.
Mistakes are a proof that I am still trying,
Let's leave behind the truth and the lying.
Give me a chance, you take two,
I know I am guilty, but I am a human too!
